80th-Birthday Surprise-Bagpipes 30th June, 2021.
An Honour today, Bagpiping a Surprise near Brecon. This was for Desmond’s belated 80th Birthday & who has a love of Bagpipes. In addition, my brief was for some Military & Irish related tunes.
I entered the close with “The Green Hills of Tyrol” (aka The Scottish Soldier), with “The Battle’s O’er”. Thereafter, I played “Happy Birthday”. I then continued with “Danny Boy”, “When Irish Eyes are Smiling” & “The Isle of Innisfree”.
The tempo increased then with a Military tune set: “The High Road to Gairloch”, “Teribus” & “Bonnie Dundee”, before the Slow Airs of “Highland Cathedral” & “Amazing Grace”. Included in the sets were “The Skye Boat Song” & “The Mull of Kintyre”.
My participation finished with “Scotland the Brave”, “The Rowan Tree” & “Going Home”. Best wishes Desmond and a Very Happy belated Birthday 🙂
Thank You to Desmond’s wife & son for their hospitality 🙂
