Barry-Funeral-Bagpipes 6th April, 2021
I was Bagpiping in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan today, for the Funeral of a local lady. I played for staff & friends at the lady’s former Residential Care Home. Requested tunes included: “Calon Lan”, “The Bonny Banks of Loch Lomond”, “Myfanwy”. This selection also included, “The Blue Bells of Scotland” & “Cwm Rhondda”.
In addition, as the cortege departed I played, “The Green Hills of Tyrol” as it did its final pass of Barry Island.
The service took place at Cardiff and Glamorgan Memorial Park and Crematorium. I led the procession to the chapel with “The Mull of Kintyre” & “Highland Cathedral”. Thereafter, other tunes included, “Flower of Scotland”, “Land of My Fathers” & “Going Home”. These tunes reflected the lady’s Welsh & Scottish family links.
Our sincere condolences to the family & friends for what was an excellent Celebration of Her Life.
