A Great Honour yesterday, Bagpiping for Memoria North Oxfordshire Crematorium Falkland40 Memorial Service.
I played as Veterans, Serving Personnel, Families & Friends arrived with a medley of appropriate tunes that included:
“The Dark Isle”, “The Battle’s O’er”, “My Home”, “The Mist Covered Mountains”, “Sleep, Dearie Sleep” & “The Shores of Loch Katrine”.
At the end of the service, I led the Wreath Bearers & attendees to the outdoor Memorial Statue with “Flowers of the Forest”. The Wreath laying followed the Bugler sounding the Last Post & Reveille. Thereafter the reciting of the Kohima Epitaph & Act of Remembrance.
Eloise Murby (Soprano) then sang “Nella Fantasia”.
I concluded with “Oft in the Stilly Night”, “Sailing” that replicated the song by The Defence Academy Military Wives Choir as part of the service. Then “Amazing Grace” & “Queen Elizabeth II Salute”.
