Firefighter-Memorial-Service-Mumbles 24th Sept, 2025.
An Honour today, Bagpiping for the Memorial Service of a former Firefighter who sadly passed on duty, 53 years ago today. The service took place outside by the sea front and for the presentation & attachment of a Red Plaque to a stone memorial in the Mumbles.
Shortly before the service, guests took their place to the sound of “My Home” & “The Mist Covered Mountains” on my Bagpipes.
After the wreath laying & a one minute silence, I played the requested: “Salute to Willie, The Royal Fendersmith”.
At the end of the service, I played the requested: “Caledonia”. This was followed by: “Oft in the Stilly Night”, “Flowers of the Forest” & “Sleep, Dearie Sleep”.
As a special request by Veterans of the fire service, I also played “Highland Cathedral”. This was before the reception at the The Mumbles Carlton Hotel.
Thank you to Duncan from the Fire Brigades Union Wales for asking us along.
