Funeral-Bagpipes-Crematorium-Margam 30th Jan, 2026.

Funeral Bagpiping today at Margam Crematorium Port Talbot for a local Gentleman.
On the approach, I led the cortege to the chapel, to the requested: “Sou Gan” (A Welsh Lullably) & “Calon Lan”.

The Chapel Entry was to: “Salute to Willie, The Royal Fendersmith” & “Sleep, Dearie Sleep”.

Thereafter, the Gent’s son, highlighted an emotional story going back many years, where having missed a bus home, the Gentleman & his brother decided to walk across mountains in the snow to get home.
They became lost & the Gent believed he could hear “Amazing Grace” on Bagpipes in the distance. They followed the sound and got to safety.

Shortly after the story, I played “Amazing Grace”.

As part of the visual tribute, the emotional piece of music was Nocturne 2 (Piano) in E flat Major (OP9 No2) – Chopin.

At the end of the committal, I led out to the requested: “Cwm Rhondda”, “Myfanwy” & “Queen Elizabeth II Salute” ( #Piobaireachd ).

Our Sincere Condolences to the family & many friends. Working with the very professional Neil & his team from Baglan Funeral Home Gareth Jenkins & Craig Perfect and Vicky Griffiths of HWYL Ceremonies.
