Funeral-Bagpiping-Newport-Langstone 11th Feb, 2022.
A visit to St Mary’s RC Church in Stowhill Newport City Centre today. Bagpiping for the Funeral of a South Uist (Outer Hebrides) born lady.
For the approach of the Funeral Cars at the church & with a brief to play Scots themed tunes, I played: “My Home”, along with, “The Mist Covered Mountains”. The family selected “Amazing Grace” as the church entry tune.
Thereafter, I met the cortege at Langstone Vale Crematorium where on arrival, I led the to the chapel with “The Mull of Kintyre”, “The Skye Boat Song”, in addition to, “Oft in the Stilly Night”.
In conclusion, the chapel entry was with “Flower of Scotland” & my concluding performance.
