A Revisit to St. Mary’s RC Church Stowhill Newport today. Bagpiping for the Funeral of a local Gentleman who originated from Galway.
As the cortege approached, the theme was Irish & tunes included: “The Isle of Innisfree”, “When Irish Eyes are Smiling”, as well as “Danny Boy”.
The Church Entry was to “Calon Lan”
For the Church Service departure the family selected “Going Home”. Thereafter, I led the cortege a short distance down Stowhill playing “Myfanwy”.
I then met the cortege at St. Woolos Cemetery, where I led to the graveside playing “My Home” & “The Mist Covered Mountains”.
Then Following the interment I continued with the requested repeat of “Going Home”, “Amazing Grace”, “Oft in the Stilly Night”, in addition to, “Queen Elizabeth II Salute”.
Our Condolences to the family & friends.
