Interment-of-Ashes Bagpiping-Caerphilly 4th Sept, 2020.
Interment-of-Ashes Bagpiping-Caerphilly 4th Sept, 2020. I played the Bagpipes at Penyrheol Cemetery Caerphilly today. This was for the ‘Interment of Ashes’ of a local Caerphilly lady at the family grave. Although Welsh by birth, the family had mentioned that she always had a love of Bagpipes.
As family & friends walked from the cemetery entrance, I started to play “The Massacre of Glencoe” (The Corries) with “Highland Cathedral”. In addition, on the approach to the grave, I played the requested “Mull of Kintyre”. As well as and following a Eulogy and burial of the ashes, I played the requested Welsh melody “Myfanwy”. Also during the laying of the many flowers I also played the requested “Amazing Grace” with the “The Skye Boat Song”. The playing continued with “Calon Lan” & “Land of My Fathers”. In conclusion, our sincere condolences to the family & friends.
