RAFRegt-Normandy-Veteran, Funeral-Bagpipes, 27th Aug, 2019. Bagpiping at Bethel Baptist Church Barry for the Funeral of a local gentleman. He had served as a member of the #RAFRegiment and was a #WW2 #NormandyVeteran.
I played requested family tunes which included “Flowers of the Forest” & “The Rose” as the cortege arrived. In addition, the gentleman’s grand-daughter sang the first verse of “Amazing Grace” followed by me leading the cortege into a full church. I then continuing with further verses.
After that, during a memorial photographic display, I played “The Mull of Kintyre”, “The Skye Boat Song” & “Cwm Rhondda”.
In conclusion, on departure I played “Calon Lan”, “Myfanwy”, “Highland Cathedral”, “Oft in the Stilly Night” & “Going Home”. The interment took place at Leedam Natural Burials St. Nicholas near Cowbridge later
Our condolences to the many many family, Veterans & friends in attendance.
